Today we’re going to use just 7 minutes and 4 questions to powerfully transform any worry into peace.

How to Live Worry-Free, says Byron Katie

Byron Katie's self-inquiry method, known as "The Work" helps us:
• Challenge our thoughts (not blindly believe them – which is what we do unconsciously)
• Identify the root causes of their suffering (so our negative thinking stops recycling), and
• Ultimately find peace and understanding within us.

The key is in recognize that a thought is harmless unless you believe it! Unless you MAKE it True!

Letting Go of Worry with Byron Katie's ‘The Work

  1. What’s worrying you right now?
    Example: I don’t have enough money.
  2. Is it true?
    Be still and ask yourself if the thought you wrote down is true?
    Example: Well literally, I do have enough money to live, right now.
  3. Can you absolutely know it's true?
    In every situation, in every way, absolutely… is it true? If you can find even one situation where it’s NOT true, then your worry is NOT TRUE.
    Example: Ok it’s not true at all. Actually I have more than enough money in so many ways right now.
  4. How do you react—what happens—when you believe that worry?
    What do you feel? How do you treat the person (or the situation)? How do you treat yourself, when you believe this worry is true? Make a list, and be specific.
    Example: I feel contracted, small, disempowered. I have less energy and courage and action.
  5. Who would you be without this worry?
    Imagine yourself in the presence of that person (or in that situation), without believing the worry. How would your life be different if you didn't have the ability to even think the worry? How would you feel? Which do you prefer—life with or without this worry? Which feels kinder, more peaceful?
    Example: OMG I would have peace of mind, I would feel happy and joyful and relaxed. I definitely prefer to live the truth that I have enough money!

Pro Tip: Turn it Around!

Can you find one instance in your life, where the OPPOSITE of sentence expressing the opposite of what one believes. [Example: The opposite would be: I have more than enough money. It is true that I have more than enough money to pay my mortgage, and buy food, and pay my bills. I actually have MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY!!!!]

The "turnaround" gives you an opportunity to experience the opposite of what you believe. Once you have found one or more turnarounds to your original statement, you are invited to find at least three specific, genuine examples of how each turnaround is true in your life.
