In most mindful practices, we’re intending to empty the mind of unwanted chatter, distraction and fullness. We’re trying to connect to the greater presence, stillness and peace, that lies at the core of our conscious inner experience – under the chatter of the mind.

Focusing on Our Heart, Can Help
Focusing on something active, alive and embodied can help us learn to be mindful and to meditate.
The focus of letting go remains – we’re still intending to empty or let go of our mind chatter, but we can support ourself in this process by focusing on the energy and frequency of our heart.
This can allow for a more successful experience, AND there are an abundance of positive symptoms for focusing on the loving experience of our heart.

Breathe in slowly. Breathe out slowly. Breathe in while thinking about someone you love. Breathe out allowing your heart to radiate love for them. Repeat.

So the key here, is about actually FEELING Love. And this isn’t warm fuzzy BS. It’s scientifically measurable.
We can measure with an EKG machine – the frequency of your heart when a puppy walks into the room. We can observe that it comes into a wonderful harmonious rhythm (rather than incoherent, irregular patterns). [1]
