Authentic Feeling is Always Healing ❤️‍🩹

Ignoring our emotions can really bring us down and even make us feel physically unwell. When we try to push our feelings aside, they often come back stronger than ever.

Numbing the bad stuff doesn’t just block out the negative; it also mutes the good feelings. We can’t just pick and choose which emotions we want to feel.

Whether we like it or not, emotions will show up, and brushing them off can do a lot of damage.

So, let’s dive into the life-changing practice of truly experiencing our feelings—what it means to "Really Feel."

The #1 Way People Hold Themselves Back From Loving Life 👇

Is simply allowing themselves to feel. Really feel.

If you don’t feel the full range of emotions, you will not be able to feel the heights of really enjoying and loving your life. It’s that simple.

Expressing our emotions is also vital for overall well-being. Writing down feelings or recording distressing events can aid in emotional regulation. Sharing with a trusted loved one or professional is proven to support you in greater health and healing.

Facing avoided emotions may initially increase distress but leads to emotional stability, improved mental and physical health, and deeper self-understanding in the long run. [1]

International Journal of Psychotherapy Practice and Research states: ”In conclusion, it is clear that expressing one’s true emotions and the feeling is crucial to physical health, mental health, and general well being, while a reliance on concealment gives rise to a barrier to good health.” [1]

Expanding Your Ability to Feel and Release Repressed Emotion

  1. Allow yourself to relax, to breathe deeply, and to be aware of your chest rising, and falling.
  2. Now allow yourself to be aware of the most recent experience of big feelings. It could be positive or negative. But just keep relaxing, and be aware of a recent moment when you had big feelings.
  3. Let yourself feel it deeply.
    1. Be aware of where in your body did you feel it?
    2. If it had a color – what color would the feeling be?
    3. If it had a texture – what’s the texture?
    4. If it had a message – what’s the message?
  4. That’s it! Great job! The next time you’re overwhelmed...consider that simply allowing yourself to feel and allow the emotion or energy-in-motion to be experienced, acknowledged and released.
