Trying to numb painful emotions doesn’t just block out the bad—it also dulls the good. We can’t selectively shut off feelings without losing access to joy, love, and excitement too.

Like it or not, emotions will surface, and pushing them away only causes harm in the long run.

That’s why embracing the practice of truly experiencing our emotions—of allowing ourselves to "Really Feel"—is so powerful.

Though facing suppressed emotions may feel overwhelming at first, it ultimately leads to emotional balance, better mental and physical health, and a deeper connection to ourselves.
