The Joy of Helping
If we were to ask service dogs, if they enjoy helping, what do you think they'd say?!
Research suggests:
Many dogs thrive when they have a job to do. Originally, they were bred to assist humans rather than just be companions. Unfortunately, many pet dogs often lack the mental and physical stimulation they require to flourish. As a result, they may spend long hours at home without enough engagement while their owners are at work or school. Because of this, service dogs are perhaps some of the happiest dogs around 😁 And provided they have adequate rest and play, being of service helps a dog live their best life inside and out. [1]
The same can be true for humans. We ENJOY being of service. If we get enough relaxation and play, we thrive and feel great about ourselves and our lives when we help others.
If We Could Truly Feel How Much We Love...
We would not hesitate to help out a little more.
So just for a moment, let's remember that our loved ones will not be with us forever.
There may be moments in the future, where you will NOT be able to help them.
So right now, let yourself feel that. Let yourself feel just how grateful and joyful you are that they are in your life right now.
Let's let that joy, that gratitude inspire us into greater service and helping out today.
Balancing Self-Care with Service
This life isn't black and white.
It's a dance that we each must navigate our own way.
It can be tough sometimes to know when to take care of ourselves and give to ourselves, and when to serve, to help, to focus on others.
So be kind and compassionate to yourself as you do your best.
Yes we're here to take care of ourselves and do what we love...
SO we are full of Love and able to be of profound and powerful support and service to those around us.
Your Sacred Giving Workout 💪
Find Greater Joy in Helping Out at Home 🧼
- Give 7 minutes today… that’s it. Not much. Just 7 minutes to something around the house that’s not usually something you do.
- As you’re completing these 7 minutes – take the time to be grateful for your life as it is. Do your best to be aware that you have so much to be grateful for. Your things. Your home. The people in your home. Let yourself consider that none of these things and beings are permanent. Let yourself feel grateful you have them. Let yourself enjoy helping out in an unusual way.
- Now the tricky bit. Just do your best to let go of anything in return. Of any expectation that you’ll be thanked, or appreciated. That you’ll receive any support in anyway. Just do your best!
